Turning 65

When you turn 65, you become eligible for Original Medicare and for the various Medicare Plans offered by private insurers. To take advantage of all of the benefits you worked hard for, here are some tips as to what to do as your 65th birthday approaches:

  1. Do your homework about Medicare. There is a lot of helpful information on our website to help you understand all of your Medicare Plan Options or what to consider when Choosing a Medicare Plan.
  2. Make a list of your current medical needs (which doctors you see, tests you need and how often you need them) and your current medications. Compare how you would access careunder the different plans and estimate your out-of-pocket expenses for each.
  3. Start to narrow down your Medicare options. For example, if you take a lot of medications, you probably need a plan with prescription drug coverage. If you don’t want to be limited to providers from a list, rule out Medicare HMOs. If you’re concerned about unanticipated bills or rising premiums, then a Medicare Supplement may not be a good choice for you.
  4. Call for help. A friendly, Care Assured Medicare Plan specialist can answer all of your questions. Or, schedule a no-obligation appointment with a licensed local agent or Attend a Seminar for further information.
  5. Don’t miss the date. If you are just turning 65, you can sign up for Care Assured three months before or after your 65th birthday. Your enrollment will be effective the first of the next month after you turn 65. Otherwise, you will have to wait until the next Open Enrollment period (11/15-12/31) to sign up.
  6. Relax and enjoy! We’ve got you covered.
