Keeping a List of Medications

Medications, when taken correctly, can significantly improve your quality of life. However, improper use of medications can put you at serious medical risk. That’s why it is vital to keep a current list of every medication you take including over-the-counter drugs, herbal supplements, and vitamins.

For each medication, maintain a list that notes:

Also, list any medication allergies you may have.

Be sure to take every medication exactly as prescribed and get your refills promptly. Note any side effects or drug interactions you may experience and report them to your doctor.

Do not take medications past their expiration date. Do not take medications prescribed for someone else.

Medication safety is an important component of good health. Do all that you can to make sure your medications are helping you as much as possible.
